Book blogging is hard, every year I hear about a ton of books that sound amazing but I’m always unable to read them all!
I have more than 70 titles in my 2020 Releases shelf on Goodread and, while I have read a couple of them, I still have many more to read. Of course, I wish I could read them all but I know it’s impossible to keep up with new releases. Here’s a selection of ten titles that I really, really wish I read this year and that I will try to prioritize in 2021.
Have you read any of the books mentioned in this post? If yes, did you enjoy them? 😀
Do you also have books that you wish you had read this year?
I’ve read five of these, surprisingly 😁 But I also had hoped to read The Doors of Eden and The City We Became.

You are much better than I am at keeping up with new releases so it’s not too surprising hehe.
I’m mad at myself for not reading The City We Became since N.K. Jemisin is one of my all time favorite authors…

I bought The Bone Shard Daughter with some Christmas money and it arrived today. I’m really looking forward to reading it in 2021 🙂

I have only read amazing things about this book so I can’t wait to read it! I hope we will both enjoy it in 2021. 🙂

I really wanted to get to The Doors of Eden, but the page count scared me off from even trying. I feel like I can’t handle anything over 350 these days, blech. The reviews for it have been pretty good though, at least the ones I’ve been reading from my trusted blogroll.

I also struggle with reading longer books, they take me forever to read. 😦
Adrian Tchaikovsky is one of my favorite authors so I have high expectations for this one, I have also heard amazing things about this one so I will try to listen to it on audio, it will be a bit less intimidating for me this way.

I was just thinking the same thing re: audio. My library carries it, so I’m looking forward to giving it a try.

I listened to Children of Ruin, another book by the author, and even if I missed a few details, it was a good way for me to read it a lot quicker than if I try to read it physically!
And if your library has a copy of it, it’s even better! 😉

Vanished Birds, Doors of Eden, Bone Shard Daughter, Once and Future Witches – I‘ve read all those and they are fine reads, best of all the Witches. Just use the search field at my blog (I‘d have loved to provide links but then the spam filter will rule out this comment)

I will look at your reviews after reading them! I prefer not to read reviews of books I know I want to read. It allows me to be certain that my thoughts and feelings about them are completely mine. But thanks for pointing out that you wrote reviews of them, I will compare notes later when I will have read them! 😀

Black Sun, The Bone Shard Daughter and The Once and Future Witches are on my “wanted” list, so I hope to be able to read them next year…

Yes, so many great books were released, it’s impossible to keep up! 😂
I hope we will both be able to read them in 2021!!

I loved Empress of Salt and Fortune, and The Doors of Eden finally delivered a Tchaikovsky I enjoyed rather than admired (he’s brilliant, but we do not share a fascination with insects). Black Sun, The Bone Shard Daughter and The Once and Future Witches are all high up my list of books to catch up on too!

Yes, Tchaikovsky does love his insects 😂😂 I’m scared of spiders but I still found myself rooting for them in Children of Time!

The City We Became is a big one I didn’t get to in 2020. It’s on the list for someday!

It sounds fantastic and since Jemisin wrote it, I’m sure it’s beautifully written and a captivating read. 🙂

Black Sun, The Bone Shard Daughter, and The Once and Future Witches are all on my official list but I gotta say….there’s a lot here that’s on my unofficial list as well. Hope we’re both able to get to some of these!

I hope so as well!
I also have many more 2020 releases on my radar that I didn’t get to but, if I manage to read these this year, I will be very happy! 😀
