6 months. I haven’t written anything in 6 months.
In my last wrap-up, I mentioned that I would probably be MIA for the next weeks and well… I was. 2019 was both an amazing and insane year for me. I did a lot of things that I didn’t think I would be able to do, let alone in a single year. I traveled a lot, I met amazing people, I joined a student organization, I got the internship I wanted and I did well at school (without going insane, which is not always a given in college).
However, it also meant that I just couldn’t fit the blog into my packed schedule without compromising other aspects of my life. At first, I thought things would calm down with the holidays but they didn’t, this summer alone I visited five countries. Also, it didn’t help that I couldn’t read a single thing for almost three months, I was in the worst reading slump I ever had, I couldn’t focus on books at all. For a while, I forced myself to read but, as you can imagine, it’s not the best way to enjoy books and it made my slump even worse.
When I’m unable to read, I can’t even focus on book related content. One of my favorite aspect of blogging is interacting with other content creators and I wasn’t even able to do that which was very frustrating. I even thought that I would never be able to read again and that maybe I should stop blogging entirely.
As a matter of fact, I guess my brain just needed time to relax. In September, I finally read a book. One book is not much but, for me, it’s still better than zero. In October, I read another book and in November, I read two including a book that I loved so much that it made me realize how much I missed you guys and this little blog. Indeed, the first thing that came to my mind when I finished it was that I wanted to share my feelings about it.
So, what’s coming?
I really want to go back to blogging. At the rate I’m reading books, I can’t promise to post a lot of reviews, but still, I want to ramble about books. I missed it a lot.
I have a lot of catch-up to do, I want to talk about the books that I managed to read before my break and, more importantly, I want to talk about the books that got me out of my slump. I would also like to experiment a bit more with my content, I want to make more discussions about books, I would also like to branch out and talk about movies and TV shows I like (because I have been watching a lot of them recently!). I already have several posts ready to go that will be published in the coming days so I hope you’ll enjoy them!
Thanks a lot for reading this post, it means a lot to me. 🙂

Hey! It’s so nice to see you back!! 🙂 Wow – what a year you’ve had!
So sorry to hear about the mammoth reading slump (I can relate, I’m experiencing something similar at the moment). It’s heartening to hear that you’ve come out the other side, and I look forward to reading your posts as and when they appear. 🙂

Thanks! 😀 Yes, it was definitely a lot busier than I thought it would be!
Oh no… reading slump sucks 😦 What really helped me was to stop forcing myself to read and then, when I finally wanted to read something again, I chose something not from a genre I tend to read (it was a historical fiction book). Usually, resting my brain a bit and changing things up really help with the slump!
I’m definitely not back at my normal reading pace, the last book I finished took me a month and a half to read but at least I really liked it so there’s that ^^

That’s good advice – thank you. 🙂
And heck, as long as we’re enjoying what we do read, it definitely doesn’t matter how long it takes us! 😀

It’s good to see you! Sounds like you have had an amazing year – here’s to 2020 being good to you too. Remember, there’s nothing wrong with switching things up on a blog – it’s your space and I’ll happily swing by to say hello whether you’re knocking out one post every six months or a review every other day (how do some people do that? I still don’t know, but I’m not going to worry about it). Here’s to a cosy midwinter – maybe it will help you find some peace and quiet to squeeze another book in 🙂

I know but I’m a usually routine-oriented person so I don’t tend to change things up a lot. However, 2019 was the year of trying new things for me and it worked really well so, I’m going to try to spice things up a bit on the blog as well! 🙂
(I don’t know either how people manage to do that, I’m pretty sure they have superpowers or something).
Yes, I have a few days off during the holidays so, I’ll see if I can read a bit (I already read two books in December which is pretty impressive considering my reading pace lately :O ).

Welcome back!!!! 🎆🎉🤗
It sounds like an interesting six-month hiatus, and one that gifted you with a great number of amazing experiences, so there is no need to feel bad for the missed reading – you can always catch up as soon as you have more free time. And I look forward to hearing about the books and reviews you have lined up, not to mention that branching into TV and movies can indeed spice up one’s interests, and prevent any kind of slump.
Here’s to your return to blogging! 🥂

Thanks, Maddalena! 😀
Yes, it’s the plan! I don’t want to turn the blog into a TV/movie reviews blog but, I thought it would be nice to talk about my other interests once in a while. 😀
Cheers to that!

I do like to move to non-book territory now and then, and it’s a nice change of pace, so I look forward to your… extracurricular 😀 reviews!

Welcome back! I’ve been through the college reading slump – I was a history major, so when I was done with classwork, the LAST thing I wanted to do was read. Sounds like you had fun doing other stuff in the meantime, and you had some time to recharge!

I’s not first college slump but this one was the worst to date 😦 I’m a biology major so, I have to read a lot of dry scientific articles and yes, it really didn’t help with the slump… My brain was like “no more words for you, no more!”.
